There are two main ways to make the world a better place:
1) Take better care of it now.
This is why I work at The Nature Conservancy. I'm Chief Operating Officer for California, which basically means I help really smart people be as efficient and effective as possible while they are solving big problems for nature and people.
2) Take better care of it later.
The surest way to build a better future is to give a voice to young people. Years ago, I was fortunate to head communications at NatureBridge, an environmental education nonprofit that brings about 30k students into national parks each year. Imagine 4th graders seeing the ocean for the first time. It happens. And it's amazing.
